A 12- to 22-piece chamber ensemble which presents some 30 concerts each year. Founded by violinist Bjarne Fiskum, the orchestra consists of young talented music students mixed with professionals, and has already established an excellent international reputation. The orchestra has toured to the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Brazil, France, the Nordic countries and the Canary Islands. In Spring 1999 the orchestra was invited to undertake a five-week tour featuring master violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. The Trondheim Soloists have recorded 6 CDs including Vivaldi’s ’Four Seasons’ and all of the music for strings by Edvard Grieg. The French Diapason d’Or was awarded the orchestra for its recording of Grieg’s String Quartet No. 1 in G minor.
