In a recent survey carried out by Norwegian statistics supplier Norstad, on assignment from music streaming services provider WiMP, 42% of Norway’s population states to have access to music streaming services. 25% of this user group are paying their way – the majority opting for Spotify’s Premium model or WiMP’s paid-for services. If correct, the survey suggests that 10% of Norway’s total population has access to paid-for music streaming services.
In the 30 years and below age-group, 75% of the population has access to WiMP, Spotify or similar music services – including both freemium/ad-based and paid-for models. In the same age group one also finds the highest percentage of paying customers.
The survey also suggests that the male users are leading the way; 51% of all males interviewed in the survey state to have access to streaming services. The female equivalent is 33%.
