Some positive signs on the home market; sales are up 14% in October.

The latest figures from the Association for Norwegian Record Distributors show that revenue from music sales rose 14% in October 2006 compared to last year.

Domestic repertoire had a field day in October with an increase of 45% in volume and 53% in value for physical goods. Norwegian releases accounted for 46% of units sold on the home market last month.

Sales of singles are down 50% in volume and 61% in value in October 2006 compared to last year.

Sales of music DVDs were down 23% in volume and 15% in value last month.

So far in 2006, 7,6m albums, 225 000 singles and 259 000 music DVDs have been sold resulting in a total turnover of NOK 506m (€ 61,8m/$ 79,46m). Compared to 2005 this is a reduction of 13% in volume and 14% in value for sales of physical goods. Download sales amount to a turnover of NOK 18m (€ 2,19/$2,82m). Combined sales of both physical units and downloads are down 11% compared to last year.
