The young Norwegian pianist studied piano with the Czeck teacher, Professor Jiri Hlinka, at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, where he recently attained his soloist diploma with honours.

He has performed as a soloist with the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra in the Czech Republic and with most of the professional symphony orchestras in Norway, including the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Oslo Philharmonic.

Under the direction of conductors such as Terje Boye Hansen, Mark Shanahan, Michael Christie, Stephan Barratt-Due, Ingar Bergby, Rolf Gupta and Susanna Mälkki, Steffen Horn has performed Piano Concertos with a wide range of stiles. From Mozart, Beethoven and Rachmaninov, to the Norwegian composer Geirr Tveitt.

His two latest, “Sustained” and “Prokofiev”, were released by the 2L recording company in 2004. All his recordings have recieved exellent reviews:

“Steffen Horn plays georgeously beautiful. The mild Barcarolles by Fauré goes right to the heart, and in both Chopin’s Ballade in f minor and in the early Sonata no. 4 by Prokofiev, the thematic lines are formed with a natural musicality that captures the listener...
... Steffen Horn possesses a great capacity of power and technique, which he manifests in the more dramatic parts of Chopin, as well as in Debussy’s Estampes.”
Bergens Tidende (2004) – Norway

“this will easily join my list of the year's best recordings. Imagine being able to wallow in some of the plushest sound imaginable and some truly gorgeous playing at the same time.” American Record Guide (2004)

His debut performance in the Oslo university auditorium received great ovations, both from the audience and the press:

“...It is rare for a debutant, to have such a conscious attitude to make musical progress. With future concerts in mind this is promising, where as the ability to keep the audiences attention contributes to the experience of concentration and fellowship. Horn had an impressive technical control.”
Aftenposten (2002) – Norway

In 2002, he held a very successful solo debut concert at the Wigmore Hall in London.
Steffen Horn has performed both as a soloist and in chamber music in Norway as well as abroad, with solo recitals in Prague, London, Warsaw, Moscow, Tehran and Berlin.
