Revenue generated by music streaming services grows rapidly on domestic market.
The latest sales figures from IFPI Norway show a marked increase in revenue from music streaming services in January 2011; up 76% compared to the preceding year. Digital downloads continue to grow with a 39% growth compared to 2010.
The digital segment of the domestic music market is up 62% (including downloads and streams) from 2010.
Sales of physical units are continuing the downward spiral, down 60% compared to Jan ’10.
National repertoire held a 38% stake of the market, international repertoire 52% while sales of classical music ended at 10% of the total market.
