Updated: Stargate, Trondheimsolistene, Johannes Weisser and Marianne Beate Kielland receive Grammy nominations.
The nominees for the 2010 Grammy Awards were unveiled this week; Norwegian performers and producers receive five nominations to the prestigious awards.
Stargate are nominated in the Album of the Year category for their contributions to Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’. The successful NYC-based Norwegian production team has written and produced two of the tracks on Perry’s album.
In the category Best Surround Sound Album Trondheimsolistene’s ‘In Folk Style’, produced by 2L’s Morten Lindberg, receives a nomination. The same album is also nominated in the Best Small Ensemble Performance.
Continuing to the ‘Best Choral Performance’ category we find another Norwegian contribution on Freiburger Barockorchester’s recording of Haydn’s ‘The Creation’ with conductor René Jacobs which features Norwegian baritone Johannes Weisser.
The same category features another release with a vital Norwegian performer; mezzosoprano Marianne Beate Kielland is featured as soloist on a recording of Frank Martin’s ‘Golgotha’ featuring conductor Daniel Reuss as well as the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra; Cappella Amsterdam and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber..
The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards will be aired on CBS at 8pm ET/PT on February 13
