Folkelarm (folk-clamour) 2008, which runs from the 25th to 28th of September, constitutes an important meeting-place for artists, music industry and the public. For four days Oslo will be bustling with activity, bringing to the fore the cream of Norwegian folk music. The event includes concerts and seminars as well as the awarding of the Folkelarm prize.

Folkelarm is both a folk-music convention and industry-gathering which displays an impressive live line-up as well as popular seminars and event programmes tailored for the growing international delegation.

And amidst all this talk and commotion there will of course be plenty of music with acts such as Bruvoll/Halvorsen, Valkyrien Allstars, Skáidi, Gjermund Larsen Trio and Niko Valkeapää playing showcases.

There will in other words be ample opportunity to experience folk music in a plethora of forms, from the whole of Norway and with prominent appearances from leading Nordic artists.
