Sondre Lerche UK focus

Singer/songwriter Sondre Lerche with UK focus in late May.

Singer/songwriter, musician and film composer Sondre Lerche is set to perform in London in late May with gigs at The Garage and a Big Star tribute concert at the Barbican Hall.

Lerche’s sixth, self-titled album was recorded at Rare Book Room studio in his adopted neighbourhood of Williamsburg, with musicians from Midlake, Of Montreal and Vetiver. It's produced by long-time collaborator Kato Ådland with Nicolas Vernhes (Deerhunter, Spoon, Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective) and it's really rather good.

Praised by Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Stereogum, Filter, Spin, and Entertainment Weekly among others for his experimentation with contrasting musical sounds, the album contains Sondre’s most interesting arrangements and catchy songwriting to date, but also some of his most somber and introspective. But for his sixth album, Sondre’s prolific curiosity didn’t lead him to a new genre so much as introduce a new level of candidness in his work.

As well as his solo show at the Garage Sondre will also join the bill for a performance of Big Star’s legendary Sister Lovers album on May 28th, at Barbican Hall in London.

“Big Star’s third album has long been revered by musicians and critics as one of the most mysterious and influential records ever made. Its fragile, achingly beautiful songs have never been properly performed – but now an all-star band has unearthed the original string and wind orchestrations for this one-off London show.”
