Strong Norwegian focus at The Great Escape

Mid-May sees a strong Norwegian delegation heading for Brighton’s The Great Escape Festival - one of Europe’s main showcasing arenas.

No less than ten Norwegian acts are scheduled to perform at this year’s The Great Escape, one of Europe’s leading showcasing festivals and music industry events which features acts from all over the world. The festival, which takes place in Brighton from 15 to 17 May, extends its longstanding love for Norwegian acts with a special 2008 Norwegian focus.

Over 200 new local and international artists are showcased at 25 venues over 3 days in Brighton. An important area of the festival programme is the wealth of talent brought to Brighton from all over the world to perform at the festival. Each year a country is selected and spotlighted in the line-up and in 2008, Norway is the focus country of the festival. Norwegian acts featured on The Great Escape’s roster include Accidents Never Happen, Ane Brun, Casiokids, Dylan Mondegreen, Ida Maria, Nils Bech, Sigh & Explode, Silje Nes, the Lionheart Brothers and Ungdomskulen.

Says The Great Escape’s Jon Mcildowie ‘In the years we’ve been running The Great Escape we’ve had some fantastic artists from all over the world, but one country we’ve always been able to depend on for cutting edge talent is Norway. With the launch of Music Export Norway’s office in London this year and the emergence of some new and exciting bands we feel the timing is perfect to make Norway our lead country for The Great Escape Festival and Convention,’.
