Positive trends on the domestic market – sales were up in September.
Amid reports of a dwindling music market comes some positive news from the Association of Norwegian Record Distributors. The latest sales figures from the association show that overall music sales rose 15% in September compared to 2006. These figures includes both physical units as well as digital downloads – sales of physical units were up 14% in September while downloads rose 50%.
Sales of singles continued its downward spiral – down 8% in value while sales of music DVDs remained stable in September.
So far in 2007, 6,5m physical units have been shifted, resulting in a turnover of NOK 400m. Digital downloads account for a NOK 29m turnover. Overall sales so far in 2007 are down 5% compared to last year.
