Ryfylke heads out on US tour

Renowned experimental sound sculptor outfit Ryfylke heads out on a US tour this week.

Ryfylke, a duo which consists of Stian Skagen and Sten Ove Toft debuted with an album that has been hailed as one of the strongest that has ever come out of the Norwegian noise scene. The duo’s first full-lengther ‘Boknafjord’ received instant classic status among the noise cognoscenti when it was released in 2004.

Ryfylke followed up on ‘Boknafjord’ with last year’s Morild (Roggbif Records) which picked up where its predecessor stopped with waves of glitchy distorted noise. The album is a strong experimental noise outing that contains many facets of this exploratory genre, with some passages being almost ambient and minimal while others are brutal cascades of distortion.

Ryfylke is a true phenomenon of pure, crystallized sound design – the duo carefully processing sourced into practically unknown matters. If you’re prepared for a sonic challenge, Ryfylke and their stunning debut is something for you.

The duo’s live performances are of the same calibre as their recorded outings and anyone into challenging (but rewarding) music owe it to themselves to check out the happening Norwegian noise duo.

Tour dates are found in the calendar section.
