Not surprisingly, music sales on the domestic Norwegian market continue to fall. 2008 sales figures indicate a 13% reduction in overall sales.
No surprises from the Association of Norwegian Record Distributors in their 2008 sales report; it’s a downward slide. Last year, domestic sales reached 9,1m physical units resulting in a NOK 554m turnover while digital downloads generated a NOK 55m turnover.
In total, this represents a 13% decline compared to 2007.
Sales of physical albums fell 16% last year while sales of physical singles fell with as much as 50%.
Download sales rose with 30% compared to 2007 and now has a 9% share of the total market.
