Perhaps not surprisingly, the latest sales figures for the domestic phonogram market show that the home market is continuing to shrink.

The April sales figures from the Association of Norwegian record distributors show that sales of physical units and digital downloads fell with 26% compared to 2008.

Sales of physical units fell with 36% compared to April 2008 while digital downloads rose with 75%.

Total 2009 sales of physical units amount to 2m units shifted, resulting in a NOK 118 turnover. 2,7m digital units have been shifted and 49m streams have been generated, resulting in a NOK 27m turnover.

So far this year, total sales including both physical and digital products are down 11% compared to last year.
