Fridthjof Anderssen: Orgelverker

MIC’s Listen to Norway profile series continues with organist Bjørn Andor Drage’s interpretation of Fridthjof Anderssen’s "Orgelverker" (Organ Works).

In celebration of the 125th anniversary of North-Norwegian composer Fridthjof Anderssen, organist Bjørn Andor Drage interpreted and recorded organ pieces from this little known composer. Few composers came out of the northern parts of Norway in the late 1800s, and Orgelverker is in this respect an important historical documentation. Supported by the Arctic Brass players, Drange draws a vivid portrait of the composer as he handles the gigantic organ pipes of Leipzig’s Thomas church.
